ILF3 isoform-1 (FL) and isoform-2 (APA creating exon 18) promote cell proliferation and transformation. Tumor cells with reduced SRSF3 expression produce aberrant isoform-5 (APA and Alt3) and -7 (skipping of exon 19) of ILF3. ILF3 isoform-5 and isoform-7 suppress tumor cell proliferation and the isoform-7 induces cell apoptosis.
